This was an illustration I did just recently for a segment called "I love the 80's" in my college yearbook. The layout revisits the 80's and I decided to provide a pic for the cartoon aspect of it. Overall, I find that this genre is over promoted in today's age, but I don't deny its influence on me while growing up. I decided on a brown background because that's the color I remember most at that age... Dunno why.
Egon!!! SQUEE! Now there's someone I always forget when remeniscing (sp) about the lovely decade of my youth, and yet such a great show (well, for 80's shows). Bright and shiny, man! And you're right...despite the bright colors of the clothes/make-up/shows, brown does seem to be kinda lodged in my mind. Maybe it was the "in" color for decorating at the time?

So a Man, and Elf, and a Dwarf walk into the Riddermark...
From a design standpoint, the brown works well as the background color because it's neutral and allows the colorful characters to pop out, without looking like the design has a lot of dead space, which it would if the background was white maybe. The 80s are overpromoted, but all trends happen in circles, and currently it's trendy to relive your 80s days, just look at the success of That 70's Show. Next up is the 90s.

80's cartoons!! I remember all the characters there! Nice composition I think the brown background works well, kinda conveys the vintage mood of the pic~
It's nice to see, that some people still remember... I just turned towards the 80's now, when I'm old and shaky (somobody shoot me PLS, I'm just 24...) but that's good, because now, I can fully respect that era's greatness. I'm still in love with the Transformers though and I was playing Ninja turtles games with my lil' bro... Memories, memories... XD Anyway, The pic looks nice, Me likes!
I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
